The company known as Eberhard & Co carries a long tradition of fine watch making that continues to this day.

Originally founded in 1887 by Georges-Emile Eberhard in Chaux-de- Fonds, Switzerland he set out to produce watches that innovative and stylish. History shows that he quickly achieved these ideals as his watches found immediate popularity. That tradition of imbuing each piece with style and the best, most innovative technology continues to this day.

In 1906 the Eberhard firm relocated to larger premises in the Jura region. It was from here that he began introducing a series of first to the world of fine watches.

In 1919 Georges was joined in the company by his two sons Georges and Maurice. It was also in 1919 the Eberhard & Co. introduced their first chronograph wrist watch with featuring a strap with mobile attachments and hinged case back. In 1926 full control of the factory was turned over to Georges and Maurice.

Over the ensuing years Eberhard and Co. released many new watch innovations including the their first automatic wrist watch in 1930, their first two button chronograph in 1935 and in 1938 chronographs with elapsed time counters. In 1930 the company also became suppliers to the Royal Italian Navy.

In 1942 Maurice became sole owner of the company retaining control until his retirement in 1962.

1947 saw the advent of the first women’s wristwatches by Eberhard & Co., and the 50’s saw the introduction of the famous “Extra Fort” model with its push button for the starting and stopping of its chronograph

When Maurice retired in 1962 the company was purchased by an outside interest. Little is known about who purchased it however they have continued the rich tradition that the Eberhard family established and have gone on to release continually superior watches.

Some of the more famous Eberhard models include the Chrono 4, the Boucanier Grande Date, the Tazio Nuvolari and the unique Temerario a chronographic watch with linear display.
