No one
can dispute the creative genius and business acumen of the
infamous Coco Chanel. Beginning in the early 20th century with
a small millenary shop Chanel went on to build an empire consisting
of clothing, perfume, jewelry and watch lines that to this
day remains one of the most prestigious fashion empires in
the world.
Using her
talent for sewing and her astute business sense Coco Chanel became
one of the most influential women of her time. She was a leader
in all facets of her life, even forming liaisons with the likes
of the Duke of Westminster and Nazi officer Hans Gunther von
Dincklage.
Above all
else however she was a lover of beauty and style and created
her empire with skill, hard work and perhaps a liberal dash of
good fortune.
Her watch
line first came into being in 1987 when repulsed by the day’s
fashion watches and women’s watches that were mere recreations
of men’s models she was compelled to create a watch line
that embodied her belief that women’s watches should be
useful, solid and beautiful.
Beginning
with her first collection, the Premiere collection, she set about
to fulfill her vision of what a watch should be. This octagonally
shaped model was highly successful and she went on to create
other lines each with its own distinctive style.
In April 1993
Chanel watches were presented for the first time at the Basel
Switzerland. This internationally renowned show is the highlight
of the year for the watch making industry and an appearance in
it is considered to be the equivalent of being invited to a Royal
Ball.
Sadly Coco
Chanel passed away in 1971 while working in her Paris hotel suite.
Her empire however has lived on and the name Chanel is as widely
recognized today as it was when she was alive. Under the leadership
of her chief designer Karl Lagerfeld the company continues to
produce her various product lines with the same care and attention
to detail that Coco Chanel dedicated her life to.
With the introduction
of the new J12 collection Chanel watches has entered the world
of complex and highly technical watches that reach further beyond
mere fashion statements.
Chanel Replica
Watches - A Brief History
When is a watch more than
just a watch? When it stems from the house of the inimitable Coco Chanel.
Stunningly beautiful and created with the finest materials and technical
expertise Chanel watches are a fashion statement unto themselves.
Coco Chanel was born Gabrielle
Bonheur Chanel in 1883. Her mother passed away while she was still very young
and eventually she was abandoned by her father as well. Growing up in an
orphanage Chanel became adept with a needle and thread and it was this training
that was to eventually lead to her great success as the most influential
female fashion designer of the 20th century.
Her love of fashion resulted
in a revolution in women’s clothing and beyond.
At 17 she arrived in Paris
and never looked back. Beginning with a small hat shop she soon expanded
to two shops. In the 1920’s she became an icon in the fashion world
with her unique designs and creative use of a fabric that until that time
had been used in men’s undergarments.
It was only natural given
her great love of fine clothing, perfume and jewelry that eventually her
empire would expand to include watches. Beginning in 1987 Chanel began producing
time pieces that she called usable, solid and beautiful.
Her first collection aptly
named Premiere was a dress watch with octagonal case. This was soon followed
by other collections such as the Chocolat, Matalessee, and Mademoiselle and
more recently by the J12 collection. Her pieces run the gamut from fashion
watches to highly technical tourbillion models and are among some of the
most highly coveted watches in the world.
While Coco Chanel passed
away in 1971 her legendary empire has lived on. Under the direction of chief
designer Karl Lagerfeld, the firm continues to set fashion trends. Combining
beauty and technology in a manner that would undoubtedly meet with Coco Chanel’s
approval Lagerfeld continues to build upon the House of Chanel.so that the
women of today can enjoy her designs in watches, perfumes jewelry and fashion.
Chanel watches are produced
in Switzerland and are available at her boutiques world wide.
